Abstract

The field trials performed in Italy to test the effectiveness of acibenzolar-S-methyl, registered as Bion, to control bacterial canker and decline of hazelnut are summarised. Five sprays from late April to September allowed to significantly reduce the number of dead branches and trees. Bion was more effective in orchards where diseased trees were regularly removed.
