A lack of druggable targets in the {insulin-Akt} pathway has made increasing insulin signaling an uphill struggle. Now, a Johns Hopkins team has found that Akt is inhibited by an inositol-derived signaling molecule called {IP7,} which could potentially provide a new angle for targeting diabetes and obesity.
