Abstract

A review. The field of bioencapsulation within sol-gel glasses is growing rapidly. Among the applications of sol-gel glasses are for controlled drug delivery, anti-TNT antibodies for the detection of explosive, the liver-specific metabolic activity in silica-encapsulated hepatocytes, and a sol-gel amperometric bio-sensor for the detection of Escherichia coli heat-labile enterotoxin.
