Abstract

In today's competitive environment, you only have a few seconds to help site visitors understand that you have an answer to their needs. How much more powerful would a company's online presence be if the whole experience were relevant to each of the key visitor types and their needs? Personalization has proven its power in helping companies acquire, engage and retain customers by using the technology to accommodate the differences between individuals. Within the e-commerce industry, personalized content relevancy is often thought to lead to improved conversion rates and higher customer satisfaction. People need different things at different stages of their purchase journey. This paper introduces the infrastructure eBay has deployed to drive increased personalization and relevancy to customers. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
