Abstract

McBurney's button-hole is an exposure technique for the posterior interosseous nerve quoted in Anrold Kirkpatrick Henry's famous book Extensile Exposures. This short article discusses the overlap between three historical surgeons, Thompson, Henry and McBurney to discover the meaning of the reference and technique, which is used by surgeons to this day. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
