Abstract

In a survey of 4287 necropsies on non-domesticated species of birds, cataracts were observed in 18 (0.4%). Sixteen different species belonging to 7 orders were affected. Most were old birds. The highest percentages occurred in Falconiformes (2.3) and Cuculiformes (2.25). In only two birds were cataracts thought to be congenital.
