Abstract

Facial wash is a type of cleanser that is useful as a facial cleanser so that it can remove oil and dirt from the face evenly. The facial wash is made in gel form because it is easy to use, easy to clean, does not contain oil, feels cool, dries quickly, and has a light gel fiber structure that helps clean facial skin. This research aims to obtain a good formula by varying the concentration of carbopol, namely FI (1%), FII (1.5%), and FIII (2%) as gelling agents. The active ingredient that can be used in this facial cleanser is soursop leaf extract because it contains saponins, alkaloid compounds, tannins, and flavonoids which have an antibacterial function. The results of the research showed that positive soursop leaves contain metabolite compounds, namely alkaloids which form a white or yellow precipitate, flavonoids which form a red-yellow color, tannins which turn blackish green and saponins which form foam. The results of the physical properties in the organoleptic test showed that the odor and color parameters were not significantly different between the formulas, and the difference in carbopol concentration in the texture of preparations FI (soft), FII (rather rough), and FIII (coarse). The results of the evaluation show that FI with a carbopol concentration of 1% produces the best facial wash gel. The physical properties of the preparations were found to differ in that the concentration of carbopol had a significant effect on organoleptic tests on texture and foamability tests.
