This chapter describes the systematic steps and principles in the design of case-control studies, and illustrates their application in assessing the relative risk for in situ cervical cancer in relation to serum selenium level, the association between myocardial infarction and alcohol consumption, and the risk of development of cervical neoplasia according to age at marriage and literacy status of women.
