Abstract

Society 5.0 will rest fundamentally on advanced algorithms, but will people trust them? This brief essay examines some factors that may influence future acceptance or rejection of a cybernetically-integrated society. These include algorithmic honesty, competence, transparency, and flexibility, as well as our willingness to relate appropriately to nonhuman intelligent agents.
