Abstract

Ensemble has been proposed as an enabling technology, for composing different MPI application configurations maintaining a single code for each of the components involved, possibly maintained by different teams. Ensemble enables a) the design and implementation of MPI components, b) the specification of symbolic application composition directives and c) the composition of MPI applications. Composed MP applications are pure MPI programs and do not use any external environment for process communication. In this paper we describe application composition using intercommunicators and process topologies. We demonstrate on a climate model configuration. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
