Abstract

Learning a national language as second language has become an apprehension in everyday life for a certain group in the country. The emergence of multimedia technologies with appropriate learning approach could enhance the learning process of a particular language. This paper presents a framework for the design and implementation of an alternative web-based learning game that aims to encourage the kindergarten learner to learn Thai as their second language. It comes about to expose the young children to the technology while they learn from the lessons and play the games which is the mechanism to deliver the educational content. The concept play and learn is implemented in this system so that students are engaged both their physical and mental skills to solve problems through the interactive activities provided by the system. The system in its final state will be a flash-based educational game integrating Thai preschool syllabus. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
