This chapter discusses ablative neurotherapeutics and deep brain stimulation in animal models of psychiatric disorders. The use of animal models carries on further and could contribute to highlight some of the possible non-motor side effects of subthalamic nucleus (STN) deep brain stimulation (DBS) but has also helped to assess the possible use of this surgical strategy for the treatment of other disorders such as obsessive- compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, and addiction.
