Abstract

Core Messages: An accelerated senescence process may involve follicular melanocytes. Increased propensity of melanocytes to detach from the basal membrane may indicate another possible intrinsic cellular defect. According to the oxidative point of view, an alteration of the membrane lipid synthesis can deliver highly toxic intermediates and determine aberrant intracellular signalling. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
