Quality of life in the United States

Abstract

The United States is a diverse and complex landscape across all dimensions impacting quality of life - economic, political, sociological, and ecological. The variety of issues and situations facing the nation’s residents run the gamut and can vary widely from state to state, between regions and communities. However, the overall aggregate in the US is very high, with quality of life rated in the top tier of countries across the globe in some studies. Part of the reason is that average household income is at the highest level among countries, conveying economic benefits. However, quality of life is not only concerned with the economic dimension; other influences are explored in this chapter to gain a better understanding of the overall situation, including distribution, of quality of life in the US.
