The preoperative cardiac evaluation includes assessing the risk of the orthopedic procedure and determining the appropriate interventions to minimize that risk. The chapter discusses commonly encountered cardiac conditions and their management in the perioperative setting. A discussion of the more commonly encountered cardiac complications of orthopedic surgery is also included.
