This article focuses on the global trend in corporate social responsibility (CSR). Several types of CSR initiatives are proliferating as shareholders increasingly focus on long-term sustainable performance. Leading multinationals are creating senior CSR positions and reporting on their goals, activities and accomplishments. Responding to the demand for CSR information, nongovernmental organizations (NGO), academic researchers and analysts have taken an approach to setting benchmarks for environmental, social, and corporate governance performance.
