Abstract

The crystal structure of metal-rich Pd2Si, (revised C22 type) has been refined by single-crystal X-ray methods. Silicon-rich Pd2Si has a hexagonal superstructure with a = 13.05/sub5 A and c = 27.49/sub0 A. A powder diffraction film of a metal-rich phase, of probably composition Pd4.5Si, has been indexed with an orthorhombic cell where a = 7.418 A, b = 9.396 A, and c = 9.048 A.
