Abstract

Developments in the wireless infrastructure have paved the way to a new e-learning paradigm named mobile learning (m-learning). M-learning systems aim to improve the quality of learning by providing mobile learners with an easy, contextualized and ubiquitous access to knowledge. Our discussion focuses specifically on mobile intelligent tutoring systems. Based on our previous work in the field of intelligent tutoring systems as well as agent technology we have outlined a multi-agent architecture for our intelligent tutoring system xTEx-Sys to be extended to mobile devices. Given the present absence of relevant literature and referent material we think that this paper provides software developers with some valuable guidelines. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
