Abstract

Healthcare providers are uniquely positioned to interview and assess patients who may be victims of sexual and other forms of interpersonal violence that contribute to untoward symptoms affecting their general health and well-being when they present for imaging in radiology. When healthcare professionals are able to recognize the underlying signs of abuse and maltreatment and offer subsequent referral to safety and community resources, patients are afforded improved, safer, and healthier outcomes.
