Abstract

In this article the newest considerations on “Leadership” and “Transformation” and “Change Management” are outlined. All approaches are based on the most fundamental approaches of Organization Development, especially “Process Consultation”, “Helping” and “Culture” of Edgar H. Schein, from M.I.T. and Chris Argyris’ “Action Science” from Harvard. Leadership is discussed outlined today s challenges of leaders and managers vis a vis IT, intercultural topics and multiculturalism and globalization. The new core competencies of leaders are described and illustrated in the field of “leadership as relationship building” as seen in Southwest Airlines and a Hospital in Seattle. The background is “culture development” (of Schein) and change management as seen in the Organization Development approaches. Transformation is discussed as a sustainable Process and is compared to Change Management.
