Abstract

Information system (IS) is a complicated structure of social and technical systems. They are part of every organization in western and developing countries. Uncertainty has always been a part of software and information system development, and working globally increases the uncertainty. To know some basic factors of the IS context, the interconnectedness of human and technological informatics in everyday work could be a way to decrease this uncertainty. In this paper, we present the theoretical basis of three context models to construct a framework to be used as one method when evaluating different IS contexts in IS use and development. © 2006 International Federation for Information Processing.
