Abstract

Direct digital synthesis technology (DDS) is applied widely in synthesizing adjustable frequency signal since it has characteristics such as high frequency resolution, fast frequency switching and continuous phase frequency and so on. According to the working principle of DDS, it is very important to calculate the frequency control word. Because there are shortcomings of large computation, low efficiency of frequency setting, more storage space occupied or significant cumulative errors of frequency setting when calculating frequency control word with usual methods, three novel algorithms for calculating frequency control word are developed in this paper. These new methods do not need large computation and more space and simultaneously, they can decrease the error greatly, which play an important role in improving the frequency setting speed and precision of signal generator. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
