Abstract

Before exploring the relationship between disability and maternal and child health, it is useful to note that there are both a capital MCH world and a lower case mch world. In the former, the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, part of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, has responsibility for setting a national agenda to improve health of mothers and children and distributing federal funds to support that agenda. In the lower case mch world, the term maternal and child health is used more loosely to include almost anything to do with the health of mothers, babies, children or teens. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
