Abstract

In this work we analyse the factors leading to the decline of popularity of traditiona l Computer Science / Informatics study programmes as observed in Europe and the U.S. We further examine the possible directions for improving the Informatics curricula to reverse the downturn trend. Finally, we report on the first positive experience of including Mobile Computing related topics into the Informatics study programme with resulting increase in students' interest. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2010.
