Abstract

This study documents that ephedrine crosses the placenta, an event that would explain changes in FHR. The minimal changes in newborn heart rate at 30 min are probably not clinically significant. We believe ephedrine is the vasopressor of choice for treating maternal hypotension associated with epidural anesthesia.
