Abstract

Hierarchically structured model families can help in parameter identification of models employed for automated optimization of therapeutical strategies. A hierarchical model family of cardiovascular dynamics comprising nine models ranging from 6 to 19 compartments is presented. Each model in the model family is directly descended from neighboring models in the hierarchy to ensure usage in hierarchical parameter identification. Conversion rules have been established to help transition of identified parameter values between related models in the model family. Simulation results validate consistency of the model hierarchy and the established conversion rules. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
