Abstract

Pelviureteric junction obstruction (PUJO) can be managed using a trans-abdominal or retroperitoneal pyeleoplasty. This chapter is devoted to the trans-abdominal approach. Operation room setup, patient positioning, special instruments and port placement sites for laparoscopic trans-abdominal pyeloplasty have been outlined. The indications, contraindications, preoperative considerations, technical notes and procedural variations have been listed to allow better judgment in this endoscopic approach. High-quality images demonstrate the procedure in a sequential manner. © 2009 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
