Truth discovery using the trustchecker algorithm on online quran tafseer

Abstract

The World Wide Web (WWW) is an important source and repository of information. However, there are no guarantees regarding the correctness or trustworthiness of the information. Indeed, various websites frequently provide contradictory information on various matters, namely, various product stipulations for a similar product. Based on this study, the essential for research on the credibility of the online information is discussed. The primary goal of this paper is to test and propose an appropriate tool for constructing a system to help users in judging the validity of claims. Moreover, this paper focuses on the process to discover the ‘true facts’ from the vast quantity of contradictory information on Quran’s Tafseer provided on different Internet websites. A framework was designed to validate the problem, through constructing an algorithm, called ‘TrustChecker’, which compares the interactions found between the websites and the information hosted on these websites. Accordingly, the website is ‘trusted’ if the site provides pieces of ‘true’ (correct) information, or the pieces of information are considered to be ‘true’ if supported by reliable websites.
