Abstract

Chinese design education field and students majoring in design tend to attach more importance to practice rather than theory. Due to the deep-rooted routine, the teaching effect of design theory courses in Chinese colleges and universities has not been effectively improved for a long time. What’s worse, it is also difficult to effectively match and integrate universal practice resources with specialized design theory courses. In such case, it is particularly crucial to create autonomous, targeted and unique practice resources for design theory courses and establish relevant platforms. Therefore, this paper, by empirically taking Advertising Copywriting as a pilot, introduces Micro-lecture advocated by China’s Ministry of Education as a teaching method to highlight the contents of design theory in a segmented manner and achieve the precise teaching of core knowledge. Furthermore, course-based Maker practice task is creatively designed and course-based Maker platform is established in order to cultivate students’ Maker concept and mindset so that they can carry out vivid Maker action in Maker practice. In this way, the current situation where the teaching quality of design theory courses is ineffective will be fundamentally changed through comprehensive reform with contextualized, diversified and practice-oriented curriculum teaching content, form and structure. In the midst of carrying on the beneficial attempt, this program will serve as a reference for the all-round promotion of teaching reform and teaching quality control and management with specific and detailed examples and analysis.
