Abstract

A decrease in overall plant species diversity and forest stature with increasing elevation is a general trend in moist tropical mountain areas (e.g., Aiba and Kitayama 1999; Cavelier 1996; Gentry 1988, 1995; Grubb 1977; Lieberman et al. 1996; Richter 2001) and was confirmed for the RBSF (Homeier 2004).
