Abstract

Despite being the strongest tendon in the human body, the Achilles tendon is the most commonly ruptured. Among physicians, there is considerable debate surrounding the etiopathogenesis and the management of acute ruptures. Such injuries commonly occur in the occasional athlete and middleaged men. The following case study is an example of a typical patient who presented to our outpatient clinic. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2009.
