Abstract

Information and communication technology has experienced a vast development and increased usage over the past few years. This development again yields to increasing energy consumption. In this paper we provide a research agenda that picks up this serious development and suggests first approaches how holistic energy efficiency could be introduced in enterprises without neglecting a company's performance and competitiveness. We propose green Business Process Reengineering as one opportunity to make further development more sustainable with respect to the resources of our environment. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
