Abstract
A quick chapter on the approach to pediatric altered mental status. The mnemonic AEIOU TIPS is a comprehensive heuristic to work through the possible etiology of the patient’s altered state. This chapter also includes some empiric bedside therapies for potentially reversible causes, as well as some pearls to remember in all cases.
