Abstract

Machining deformation is one of critical problems in machining of thin-walled workpiece, which will result in poor size precision of the wall. This paper proposes a NC compensation method to control the machining quality of the thin-walled workpiece. In the method the finite element method (FEM) was applied to analyze the machining deformation quantity of the thin-wall structure. Then, we can feed the tool to cut excessive material that is left due to machining deflection according to the FEM results by, NC compensation. Therefore, we can machine the thin-walled workpieces with high precision and high efficiency.
