Abstract

We discuss the case for J-shocks in large scale protostellar outflows as sources of the observed infrared molecular emission and describe our model for simulating such jets using the PLUTO code with an additional molecular chemistry and cooling module. Results are presented from initial gas-chemistry jet simulations showing the effect of the large scale flow on the chemical properties, and we describe our ongoing work on improving the model via comparison with more detailed models.
