+65 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aspects such as the economic levels, the smoking and hygiene habits, are related continuously as risk factors of periodontal disease. The aim of this study, is to analyze in a group of people aged 55 years or above, the periodontal status and the influence of some associated factors. In a sample (n=209) subject aged 55 years or above , who attended the clinic for people of the Complutense University in Madrid, were conducted a survey and a clinical examination, after calibration intra-examiner reliability. With an mean age of 68.3 years (±7.7) and a greater participation of men (51.7%). The Community Periodontal Index (CPI) was 2.31 (±0.89). With a edentate population of 10%, to observe levels of periodontal disease average (n=188 subject valid) that present statistical associations (p<0.05) to variables such as age and alcohol habits. With an absence of disease in the 2% of the sextant examined; variables such age, and the active alcoholic habits, was a significant association with Periodontal Index Community. The smoking, didn't register an important association.
