Abstract

Evaluating people management for organizations with dual social and economic objectives requires learning from the growing pool of social enterprises as well as drawing from the academic frameworks developed for profit driven firms. Thus, the goal of this chapter is first to introduce B Corporations as a rising form of social enterprises. Second, B Corporations existing and unique people management framework is evaluated. Third, B Corporations framework is connected to the extant academic and practitioner literature in the dominant perspectives, namely strategic human resource management (SHRM). Finally, Winkler and Portocarrero suggest developing a hybrid people management system adapted to social enterprises.
