Objective: Identify the use of the Information Search Process of Carol Kuhlthau in the Brazilian scientific production on Library Science, Documentation and Information Science, principally in studies on information behavior and information literacy. Methods: It uses as a method the systematic review of literature, in order to answer the guiding question. The terms were mapped in the Brazilian Thesaurus of Science and Information prepared by the Brazilian Institute of Information, Science and Technology (IBICT). It draws up a discussion about the subject from the articles retrieved in BRAPCI. After this were used booelan operators AND and OR as search strategy to research the terms: Information behavior, Kuhlthau, information literacy, user habits and study users. Results: After the data retrieving, it was applied exclusion criteria remaining only four articles to go through exploratory reading of the abstracts to identify the bound the theme. Two of them have an objective use the ISP to definite criteria to evaluation and to create programs of Information Literacy, while the other two used it to understand the information behaviour of the studied groups. Conclusions: It concludes that the ISP model, created by Kuhlthau, despite being originally developed for research in Information Behavior, has been adopted in Brazil as a methodological and conceptual basis to identify the process of searching for information from users studied in a given context and, later, plan and implement strategies that promote informational learning and information competence.
