Superior lines were identified from a hydroponicaly grown CIMMYT nursery, on the basis of dry matter yield and recovery from three sequential clippings. These lines were then compared with superior mid-generation triticale derived lines from local breeding program under field conditions. The locally adapted materials were superior to the CIMMYT nursery with respect to forage yield and recovery from clipping.
