Abstract

proposes that individual [counseling] and group [social skills training] can be useful with high-functioning adolescents and adults with autism / although these treatment modalities should be conceptualized differently from the psychoanalytic approaches they resemble, they can nevertheless make an important contribution if used properly and validated empirically / trace principles that can be followed in individual and group counseling, describe potential applications of these intervention approaches, and provide empirically validated case study examples of treatment effectiveness (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
