Abstract

The modalities of HBO therapy application must be seen according to the patient's clinical situation. The range is from patients with minor impairment of state of health to critically ill patients. The potentially hazardous hyperbaric environment must be taken in to account in the selection of patients to be treated with HBO. With carefully performed patient assessment HBO therapy is a safe procedure for almost any patient. Absolute contraindications are rare
