When using specific terms in health care, one cannot always“ assume that everyone understands the same. In this chapter, we have defined a number of concepts that will frequently be used throughout this book such as pharmaceutical care, drug-related problem, medication review and health care outcome. To avoid confusion with illicit addictive substances, we have also stated that we preferably will use the word “medicine”, and not “drug”, when talking about substances that are used to cure or prevent disease or medical complaints.
