Abstract

Several methods were used to estimate surface area of apples and kiwifruit (Chinese gooseberries, the fruit of Actinidia chinensis Planch.). There was little difference between the results given by some simple geometric approximations and more complex and tedious methods such as calculating the surface of revolution of a profile of the fruit, or measuring the area of peelings. © 1976 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
