Abstract

The performance of public transport in some developing cities such as Medanis getting worse resulting in heavy traffic burden, because the society prefers to use private vehicles. This is inversely proportional to the rapid development of public transport technology. For example, Monorail, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Commuter Line, Light Rail Transit and others. Mebidang area currently has a bus-based mass transit system called BRT Trans MEBIDANG. Based on the initial hypothesis, this system is not functioning optimally because of the lack of service network. Currently BRT Trans MEBIDANG system only serves on two corridors. Firstly, in this study, a new service network is required. The new service network is tested through questionnaires to respondents to know their preferences. The analysis using the binomial logit model showing the respondent preference for the use of BRT Trans MEBIDANG system. With 86.747% (2,175 respondents) if the difference in travel costs is IDR 3.000. Furthermore, 96,395% (2,410 respondents) if the difference of waiting time is 7 (seven) minutes and last is 62,547% (1,564 respondents) if the difference of travel time is 20 (twenty) minutes.
