This chapter surveys the occupational therapy interventions in which the occupational therapist (OT) enables the clients' activity, with the aim of resuming engagement in occupations. The OT's role is clarified. The interaction between the client and the activity is illustrated by two cases. Commonly used therapeutic media, such as arts and crafts, leisure and recreational activities, progressive relaxation, horticulture therapy, music therapy, complementary therapy with animals, and work-related activities, are discussed. Marie-Louise Huss's case illustrates how engagement in occupations brought meaning to the client's life and facilitated her recovery. © Springer Science + Business Media, LLC 2009.
