Simple Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) based cascaded five-level inverter is proposed in this paper. It gives power quality improvement in grid connected systems and high power applications. STATCOM provides better reactive power compensation compared to other FACTs controllers. This paper presents the simulation for cascaded five-level inverter. Increasing the number of levels in the inverter provides the staircase wave with the value of lower THD and improved power quality.
