Abstract

ThisDemocracychapter elaborates on the two conditions which are crucial in building dignified organizations: power-balance and learningLearningorganizations. To do so, Bal postulates that dignity can be established on the notion of democracyDemocracy, as it fundamentally revolves around the redistribution of power in organizations, and creates the opportunity for learningLearningorganizations and systems. The current chapter discusses the role of democracyDemocracyin establishing dignity in the workplace, and subsequently argues how this may affect activities relating to traditional human resource managementHuman resource management: staffingStaffing, performance appraisal, developmentDevelopmentand so forth.
