Abstract

Channel darter is an indigenous species known from Lake Erie, the Detroit River and tributaries to the St Lawrence River. Recently, it was collected from the Ottawa River, and tributaries to E Lake Ontario. Although the known distribution in Canada has expanded, the few individuals collected may indicate exceptionally small populations. In the US populations are declining and the species has been extirpated from many locations. -from Author
