Abstract

An analysis which technical concept of CT is best suited for addressing the problems of in-vivo small animal CT imaging is presented. Imaging properties of three CT scanner designs most commonly employed for the task have been studied in view of small animal imaging using custom-designed small animal phantoms as well as in vivo. The presented applicability analysis provides a scientific basis for the decision which scanner concept is most suited for addressing a specific problem of in-vivo small animal CT imaging. © 2009 Springer-Verlag.
