Abstract

Eating disorders comprise a heterogeneous group of clinical syndromes which typicallypresent in childhood and adolescence. Etiologies are multifactorial and include cultural,socioeconomic, and genetic risk factors. Management requires a coordinated multidisciplinaryapproach. This chapter reviews the history, definitions, epidemiology,clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of eating disorders including discussion ofAvoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Anorexia Nervosa, BulimiaNervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder (BED), Pica, and Rumination Disorder.
